Itcontains an electronic oscillator, a circuit that is capable ofcreating a repetitive waveform.The R&S SML Series combines allthe characteristics of a general purpose signal generator - widefrequency ranges, extensive analog modulation capabilities and highreliability - into a lightweight, low-cost product.Thanks to its lowphase noise SML is ideally suited to replace Los, and with preciseDC-coupled FM modulation the SML can be used as an accurate VCO. TheSML in conjunction with the optional Pulse Modulator SML-B3 handles allanalog types of modulation. AM, FM/phase and pulse modulation can beused simultaneously. TDMA signals or amplitude variations at FM, forexample, can thus be simulated. The SML has plenty of power in reserveso level loss produced by the test setup can be easily compensated. Itshigh output level makes SML an ideal source for driving high-levelmixers.
